13 Weserbrücke

At the northern end of 'Weserstraße' you reach the ‘Weserbrücke’ . This iron arched bridge is another Rinteln landmark. It was opened in 1927. Until the 60ies the Extertalrailroad passed the town and this bridge. In April, 1945, just before American troops came up to Rinteln, the bridge was blown up by the Germans. But in the early 1946 it had already been opened again. The sandstone obelisks are relicts from a former bridge (1847).
